it might be worth updating the card soon lads, there adding card readers to a lot of the lifters/cherry pickers etc now
i just sat my ipaf today, cant believe what happend though, passed on cherry picker but hit a cone on the last bit of the 3a vertical lifter.
you can do the theory part online at some places now as well not rolled out everywhere yet though

When I did my Ipaf I ask the instructor how many Renewal test they do and the answer was "NONE" I don't even Know if there is real course for renewing and I don't Know any one who fills out the book ( except Mykey now) , Mine runs out the end of the year so will be going on my 4th course then :)It seem a bit harsh that you did not pass for hiting a cone though and what do you mean by the card reader on the lifts do you have to scan your licence to get it work ?

Was told at my test it needed to be filled in so complied did it a lot at first then only when using another machine seems pointless now

Yeah they said on my course end of last year that there putting readers on to allow controls to be used by a qualified person only on the new machines

Its good that you filled it in and it might be worth giving the training course a call to check , I still think its a bit of a scam that you have to re sit the test every 5 years after all you don't with a driving licence and a lot more has changed on the roads :)

yeah its true, at the hire place i did my ipaf at they have installed it on all the bigger machines.

and its not just to only ipaf users but locked down to the company that hires it....

i did my iPaf in 2014 and HSS were talking about fitting the card readers then and I got a chip enabled card - they didn't mention that they would be locking it to the hirer company though, the jobs I have done to date I have begged the use of someone else's machine rather than having to hire one in specifically.

do you know if this a new ipaf requirement or just the decision of that hire company?

Cheers

paul
