When i test 1 of the rings in a domestic fit i have carried out the IR test on the L+CPC i get >299 Mohms which is expected so i then moved on to the L+N and got 288 M ohms when i connect the L to L and N to N but out of curiosity i reversed the leads on the test kit and i got < 1 M ohm which doesn't make sense.
R1 = 0.24 OHMS
R2 = 0.29 OHMS
Rn = 0.24 OHMS

Test instrument is ETHOS 7290

Your post is confusing me slightly. Are you saying that you are carrying out IR tests on end to end conductors on the ring (r1, rn & r2)? Or are the leads identified as L & N?

The readings you have put are in Ohms, and they look as expected.

or you are putting the two Ls in one croc and 2 Ns in the other and getting 288 and when you reverse the meter terminals you get <1Mohm ?

Sorry if i am confusing anyone, i just thought if i include the continuity results it might help the diagnosis.
I put both phase conductors in my brown croc clip[ and both neutral in my Green corc clips then reversed the clips so greeen onto phase and brown onto neutal. Leads wee connected correctly into the test instrument

Well i agree it doesn't make any sense, either your meter, or leads, are dodgy or you did something you didn't realise- are the only things i can think of. Did you repeat it and get the same thing?

Is the ring in 2.5/1.5 mm if so your r2 is surprisingly low.

2.5mm as yes i did repeat but thanks for the ideas. I did check the other ring and repeated the same i.e swapped the leads and the results were fine so the tester is good.
