Hi, could anyone tell me if there is a way of self testing your irradience meter to avoid calibration costs, have just bought this one so has calibration certificate allready, but we are trying to keep records for future mcs inspections, ty

I think they are calibrated by reference to a pyranometer.

Thinking aloud, a fluorescent tube might give some consistency over time, as might a sodium street light. Possibly a laser.

I will come back and edit this later after some thought. None of the above suggestions are ideal.

Thought about a sodium lamp myself, but they do deteriate their light output over time, possibly use the same lamp all the time and only use it once a month, But the question is " would this be accepted by the nic eic mcs inspector". WILL ASK HIM NEXT TUESDAY AFTER INSPECTION NEXT TUESDAY1

I have not worked out why it neeeds to be particularly accurate. Consistent is probably good enough within a few percent. Or have I missed something?
Regards
Bruce
