£35 x 7.5 £262.5 for a days wages
£150 for consumer unit and other costs eg petrol, ins, and other
+ vat at 20%
= £495

Any ideas..?

Some would says its too much!

Was at a house the other week and they had one done for 180 quid! Saying that, he didn't even install any bonding for them, at least it got me some work LOL

Maybe OK for London or Surrey, pretty high for most places though. What consumer units are you buying for £150??

Round here (S.E Wales) you're looking at £300 average, that's for a bang up job.

We tend to charge £150 board change / £150 for bonds / £150 for tests and certs plus vat .
Any faults or extra works then charged by the hour with parts at cost + 15 %

Not a good one for me to comment on with my location but I would have thought 300 would be near the mark as for the price of your CU seems pricey from what i see on uk sites plus price of a few bits 6mm and 10mm maybe a couple a bonding clamps

Interesting reading, a lot of threads on here are filled up with people grumbling how theres no money in this industry and they are working
for next to nothing, yet as soon as a price that is sensible based on the job, experiance, training, and qualifications required to complete and certificate to a high standard is posted, it is often advised to lower prices! We can't have it both ways...........just a thought?

yeah, but he was asking if 495 was too cheap. i would go between 300-450 depending on size of board and whether or not it was in a stupid place. like one i came across last week, not a board change, but a socket replacement. new build 2005, CU at ceiling height directly above bog. made the customer stand on bog to turn off RCD> no way am i going to fork out £200 + labour for a broken bog.

You don't say where you are but here in Surrey I'd say you would be on the high side by about £100.00 inc bonding
