Is guidance note 8 earthing and bonding worth buying?

Helloo,

Im looking to constantly improve my knowledge in this field and I feel like earthing/bonding is an area I want to touch on but im just wondering how much can guidance note 8 offer me.

I know guidance note 3 was definitely helpful and the way it’s worded it’s much more easier to understand than the BBB I’m guessing GN8 will be the same. Testing and inspection is quite a bit sector of the industry so there’s a lot to learn… how much is there to learn about earthing?

Would you recommend any of the others?

GN8 is something I would recommend.

Some people make an entire career doing nothing other than designing earthing systems.
It is only going to get more complicated as time goes on.

Originally it was only there to prevent shocks and of course, load profiles were much simpler.
Now it has to deal with intentional leakage, nasty harmonics, electrical noise and more.

GN8 gives a very comprehensive wider insight into earthing than the regs it is a good read and a good reference document for all things regarding installation earthing

Many years ago had quite a long chat with a tech support guy at one of the large lightning protection companies and it was surprising how complicated installing an earthing system can be

Reminds me of a planning application for a new build housing estate adjacent to the the BT Adastral park site, BT and some of the other companies located there were opposing the application because it could cause earthing and grounding issues in the local area which would affect the equipment they were developing and testing
