Good afternoon ladies and gents!

Just a quick question, is they any other way to register rather than retaking your part p when it expires?

would 17th edition, inspect & Test & Install suffice or is Part Pee the only way!!

Thanks

I'm trying not to be sarcastic,but what in Gods name is "your part p" supposed to mean

I know there was talk at one time that Napit wanted its members to renew the City + Guilds 2391 Inspection +testing qualification

Is that what you mean by retaking your "Part p" ?

I obtained by Part-P Full Scope course in november 2011, and was told that you need to re-take the course every 5 years.

And im looking at registering with a CPS to certify my work, i took my part-P with the intention of joining but never really got enough work that required this so any work that i did went through LABC, now i am getting a fair amount of work that needs this im looking at registering.

And with been told by the training provider that i needed to retake the course every 5years, i thought they maybe a better option where theres no need to re-take the course.

Sounds wrong to me, you don't even need to do the Part P course to register, so I'm sure that you wouldn't need to redo it after 5 years.

the training provider will say that as it's in their interest, infact if everyone knew the truth (part p exams mean absolutely nothing) then they would go bust so of course they are going to say that. i've just registered with elecsa, they never asked for my "part p exam"

This is Part P of the Buildings Regulations -

Requirement P1:
Reasonable provision shall be made in the design and installation of electrical installations in order to protect persons operating, maintaining or altering the installation from fire or injury. The requirements of this part apply only to electrical installations that are intended to operate at low or extra low voltage and are:

(a) in or attached to a dwelling;
(b) in the common parts of a building serving one or more dwellings, but excluding power supplies to lifts;
(c) in a building that receives its electricity from a source located within or shared with a dwelling; and
(d) in a gard
en or on land associated wi
th a building where the electricity is from a source located within or shared with a dwelling.

That's all there is.

i see the problem here , you are registered with nappit , you at the time did not hold 2391 so as an alternative you took the trade skills test .....correct ?
yes you must renew this trade test or do 2391
