Ive been speaking to a spark who has said that on doing kitchen part rewires every day for b an q that you can use a maintenance free connection unit and then bury the cables in the wall, i.e plaster over them, save lifting boards upstairs, is this the case now, sounds bit rough to me..................any thorts boys????????:confused:

so if there was an existing socket that wasnt needed, you could use one of these connection boxs and simply plaster over, i thort it would fail regs as it were because it wouldnt be in any safe zone, i.e you wouldnt know were it was after it was concealed????

IMO you're right, why not just use the wagos but put a blank cover in place of the socket to indicate the presence of cables leading to it?
Alternatively take the cables back up to within 150mm of ceiling.

Big time bodge IMO...I am utterly anti plastered in joints however they are done...and safe zones will likely go out of the window.
Just my opinion...other experienced people on here seem to be ok with it....I guess it's your decision as long as you comply with the regs.

im with you bud, what if theres a fault in the future, or worse still you end up destroying part of a wall trying to find your joint in the wall, seems bad practice to me, maybe the lazy option i thinks......any more opinons ??????

I agree it should only be a last resort - one continuous length of cable is going to be more reliable, safer etc than several bits joined together because someone was too lazy to do a proper job.

not all, of course, but there are a lot of them that are extensions. her indoors always wanting something bigger. or below bathrooms with tiled floors.

But if you had a fault with a broken cable anyway due to another reason and you still end up ripping up Walls to find the fault, it leads to the same thing.
Personally I see no problem, your using a piece of appliance specifying the words 'maintenance free' so why not use them what they where made for.
You can argue "What if they are not terminated correctly?" But you can argue that about most things in our job seen or unseen. It's just down to the spark doing it.
I've even started with wago's now and if the ECA are deeming them good enough than thats good enough for me, as long as it's in a suitably rated enclosure.

Bury it? ALL joints/Connections have to be ACCESSIBLE!!! More so then ever, I CANT believe you guys are saying it's ok? minimum of a Flush box! and a blank plate , and Through Crimps,if not a 20 amp connection plate, Depending on Circuit Size/Loading,

The idea is they're allowed under 526.3.
The argument is whether they should only be used in emergencies or if it's 'OK' to use them as a matter of routine - "Oh you don't have to lift floorboards any more, you can just extend the cables with wagos" etc.
