Is this connection safe? Oven power cable connected to electricity mains cable behind oven, sealed with electric tape.

Hahhhaaa! Good one mainline, but seriously, how should this connection be done professionally? What would a decent electrician do? Any posts would be really welcome and thank you guys for responding

As @westward asked, could you provide a few pics.

You haven't shown where the cables go.

I would expect a cooker outlet plate to be sunk into the wall.
It may be the case that a back box is buried behind the plaster.

If not, some careful chisel work might be required.
If there’s enough space, a surface mounted connection plate may be fitted but that is optimistic.
Thanks James, that's really helpful. Would a professional really tape up a connection like the one seen in the photo? Is it safe trousers the oven do you think?

Someone competent would renew the cable from the oven to whatever outlet is there and not have the join.

I wish I could. The oven has been put screwed back in now, but once it is taken out, I'll take some photos. The previous Hotpoint engineer, who replaced the upper element, said there might be a danger of electric shock. That's why it concerns me.

If the connector is behind the oven, then I wouldn't think it to be a danger.

You could replace those connector blocks with an inline type or one with an enclosure.
