Hi everyone,

I would very much appreciate your feedback/comments regarding this electricial install to help my cousin who has been ripped off and potentially could have put her life at risk!

She has recently had new decking fitted in the back garden and a family friend of hers who I kind of know put in the electrics for the outside lighting. This kid has being doing electrics since leaving school (approx 10years) and I know the firm he served his time with and I have come accross his work before!

He has installed outside lights to the decking in 1.5mm and took the feed straight from a kitchen socket under the sink and cut the earth out. He's then run it to an outside two gang switch (to which only one gang was needed) he then took the feed out of the switch in 2.5mm and fed every metal* light fitting reducing the cable size to 1.5mm then back to 2.5mm. He has cut off every earth at every connection point terminated in connectors and left them out in the open...yes in the open! He has made so many connections in connector blocks and failed to connect the earths from the fittings.

I had to go round earlier to see for myself as I did not believe that he had done such disgusting work when my cousin told me. I have asked for her permission to put these photos up and would like some feedback off other electricians.

I have uploaded some photos to show you how bad this install is.

Thanks

Tell him to repay the money or you will report him to the Local Authority. This is notifiable work and he won't have notified. So that's one law broken, not to mention the dangerous nature of the work.

And are those flood lamps really meant to go in those lanterns, i don't think so.

it's total tripe....my 11yr old son would design and install it better than that and that's with no training he just watched me around the house.

A child wouldn't even need to poke around the connectors...one trip on the decking with arms held out to break the fall and they'd stand a good chance of grabbing the unclipped cable's and ripping them out for starters.

Wrong bulb's,no earth's,no testing,no clipping,no basic cable protection, bad design,no water proofing of joints (not even a diyers insulation tape)....sure i've missed afew more bad/dangerous points.(i'd need that Clive Holland guy from cowboy trap to make it sound extra, extra dangerous to scare you more)

Also the legal side of no notification.

Nothing good to say at all.

Its hard to believe that anybody would carry out work to that sub sub sub standard level! Was he trying to kill somebody??? None of its right, he couldn't even get the right bulb for f sake!!! Exposed live connections outside??? You need to find this person and break his thumbs to stop him doing it again. . . . . !

I don't believe for a second this abysmal work has been carried out by a time served electrician. He may well have started out in the trade but he certainly didn't come anywhere near finishing or completing an apprenticeship!! ...Or the company he was apprenticed to, were little better than him ...lol!!!

As Tel stated, this guy needs taking out of circulation, ...the sooner the better!!
Report the bugger to anyone and everyone that can even remotely achieve that end...
