Here's one for you. In a foster home for naughty boys the client has a requirement to be able to "remove privileges" of TVs/PCs etc when necessary. They seek a means of doing this without having to get staff to use the Distribution Board. Would a DP switch of the correct capacity be the best solution. Are there any other considerations?

You could install a lockable rotary isolator in the circuit, is it a ring final Or radial?

I would agree on the contactor, however they want to isolate individual rooms, I suspect there is a ring supplying several bedrooms and they have a naughty kid in one who they want to punish by removing his tv priviliges, killing the whole ring would affect others, best to install a new radial to the room and have it going through a key switch somewhere, by the way is this child cruelty? lol

Just trip the breaker, then all the rooms go off. The kid who messed up, has now punished the rest for his actions, will now get a good hiding off the rest. This happens a couple of times they realise dont mess up, or others will #uck your ---- up.:wink5:

Sorry but all this messing about with different means of isolation is ridiculous. This job can be done with very little or no expenditure, Toonlad's method will be even more effective than my idea of just confiscating his stuff

Done something similar for a foster parent last year, the socket feeding the tv/playstation was fed from fused spur in the hall way so she could switch it off at bedtime and if he played up.
