Hi I was just wondering seeing as never done a board change but where and how is best to isolate obv due to there being seals on it, and I don't know if to isolate before the meter because won't the electricity board notice power off

What you SHOULD do is call the DNO out, pay their fee and get them to isolate the supply. However, if the seal was already broken before you got there, who would know if you isolated or not?

Well if your electricity is running through your meter then you obv pull the fuse at your cut out then electricity will not be running through meter so won't that alert the electricity board

I think you may be a ittle confused about how a meter works. The electricity board don't monitor each individual consumer's use from the sub station... if you think about it, that's why you would ahve a meter that they come and check, so they wouldn't know unless they actually turned up the minute you pulled the fuse.

Also, think about when you turn everything off in your house.

Yep too true, if you're pulling it you want to do it it one swift, fluid outward motion. Some would say rubber gloves may help, some say sticking your thumb of your other hand in the belt loop, and remember the soles of your shoes are always going to be your last line of defence! Sometimes the outer casing of the fuse carrier is old and brittle and will crumble - in this case you're in big trouble.

Thank u but won't the electricity board wonder why nothing is goin through the meter

I used to work for Seeboard before they got took over by Eon I am talking about 10 years ago the technology was available then to monitor everyones usage from their call centre and also remote disconnection for non payers. The new smart meters that are being installed now I believe have a remote read facility making meter readers obsolele. They have always monitored key meter usage.

does anyone know how long you can 'unplug' the digital meters before they lose their memory (meter reading). I remember changing my c/u and moving the meter over a few feet aswell and can still remember that buttock clinching feeling after re-energising everything after 15 minutes or so and seeing the original reading of 0001345 units turn into a stomach dropping *^%$ÂŁ00^ on the display. finally restoring itself to the original 0001345 reading after a few long seconds. wipe forehead, release sphinchter!
