Hi I was just wondering seeing as never done a board change but where and how is best to isolate obv due to there being seals on it, and I don't know if to isolate before the meter because won't the electricity board notice power off

I can't think of what they are called but they are black/brown about 2 inchs square by an inch deep and are made of plastic. Inside is just terminals. you use them when you are splitting incoming suppley? Could you use those?

Henley blocks. But you still have to put the original tails in there which woud require isolation.

Anon I would imagine they have some kind of non volatile memory as in an alarm system, that means it doesn't 'forget' no matter how long you unplug it, otherwise people would just reset them all the time! I could be wrong, though.

Trust me on this one,in my 20 yrs of experience on site i have not met one spark that has notified the supply company when pulling a main fuse as it is not viably productive (you call them and they give you a date in which they can attend site sometime in the future..!!) what you will often find is that most seals on main fuses are already cut ;) . As for them monitoring the meter ask yourself this.. when people go on holiday for eg they have a tendency to switch off everything in the house (ok fridge or freezer, alarm system maybe an exception in some cases) and in all honesty most of the guys i have spoken to that work for a dno could not give a monkeys about the seals being cut, after all were "just sparks trying to make a living" is what i hear more often than not,so if you are competant and qualified just use a bit of savvy .Hope this helps mate.
