Hi this has properly already been discussed about but i was curious if i can issue EICR with the qualifications i have.

so i have level 3 NVQ electrical installation with my AM2 but regarding my NVQ i did cover 2 units one was inspection and testing and the another one was fault finding? with these and with my AM2 surly i can sign and give EICR right? the reason i ask if because i am starting my own business soon and my friend needs some rented property's tested.

Thanks

You don't need any qualifications to produce an EICR you just require competence. Clients however may need to see some form of qualification although qualifications and competence don't always go hand in hand.

To produce EICRs on any kind of property you have to have experience above all else. This is why we're seeing on this very forum many poor quality examples posted. Quite a few of these poor EICRs are no doubt produced by "qualified and certified" electricians.
As long as you have the experience relevant to the type of premises you are intending to inspect and test you will do fine.

Edit:

This requirement for experience in the type of installation you're inspecting and testing is written into IET Guidance Note 3 Inspection and Testing.

thank you for the quick reply , i have about 7 years experience in the trade and about 3 years doing just testing and fault finding it was only because i was going off on my own now as before it was signed off through a company but thank you again :)
