been at college today guys...and was given a pat tester for nowt.....RS (seaward) 2000.....an older piece of test kit but what the hell and it all works ok so far (see what the callibration house throws up).......got some patting coming up so will be in the back of my boss`s van that one....thanks college....:hurray:

got an old Robin PT90 pat tester n all.....its an anologue one is that..with red and green zones on the bezel for dummies...lol.........just put some new bond cables on it the other day.....2 bits of 1.5.. 3 core......just parralleled em up at both ends...one for the 100mA the other for 4A and 25A...jobs a good un and i may need that as i think the seaward dont do IT stuff....thats what the (i) is for eng.....

Yep eng. I got the impression it could hang of your shoulders a bit if you were carrying it any distance...lol....seems well made though and i like the seperate keypad bit n all.....i remember you mentioned you had a seaward 2000/2000i ages ago in a thread i was looking at so i thought you might take a look here.....one of the side doors is missing on it (the one fot the incoming cable)....so i will try to get one from someware.....the college had dragged it out of a skip by all acounts and had made no attempt to plug it in but...hey...i aint moanin..lol......

Have you tried it out yet, do all the various functions work, what about the onboard rechargeable battery, that still good?? Did it still have the standard test leads on board like the flash test lead and the earth bond lead serial download lead etc?? It;s a good solid machine that will do all the tests you really need, including load testing... If you haven't got the manual, you should be able to download it direct from Seawards web site

If your going to be leaving it on your Boss's van, and the van's a bit of a bone shaker, think twice about it!! Or lay it on a thick foam sheet. Test equipment don't like being shaken to bit's ...lol!!

what you were saying eng about all the "add ons"....by all accounts you need an accessory for testing extention leads with the seaward....gives polarity n all that.....and those barcode readers are an expensive do n all...but i reckon you would only need that if you were acting as a pat duty holder within a factory or were just doing pat all the time and had regular customers..........

well it all seems to function as it should....just hope i dont get a nasty suprise from the callibration house..lol....got the dielectric "wand" for it...that dildo looking thing..lol......and the parrallel lead for the keypad....but not the 232 for the computer/printer link...by the way eng.....the smaller rs232.....hows it wired? is it2-3....3-2....and 5-7 for the ground? or is it straight? caus i have a small rs232 which i can modify if its crossed....i can just bell the pins to get em going the right way if needs be..... had a spare test lead and a croc n prod for the bonds so......

I only have the standard kit and the optional bar code reader. only ever used that on the project. My unit was the unit supplied by the contractor for verification purposes of previously test appliances. So it was in virtually as new condition when i acquired it permanently ...lol!!

Can't remember about the RS232 lead, but as i remember it's in the manual that you can download from there website that shows the connections and pin numbers at both ends of the lead.... The unit is in Cyprus so i can't check the lead out... lol!!!
