I just finished level3 course last week.
I am totally newbie on this work.
I called some local electrician companies to find out whether I can work for them.
However, I couldn't find any luck. One guy told me that he himself also has a few years experiences and he said that he understands what I am doing.
He encouraged me not to give up, keep trying to call local electricians.
I know I should try and try until the sun shines.
But I am afraid of dark days in front of me.

It was a dark Tuesday.

Mate never give up, i had the same trouble getting my apprenticeship i rang every company near me two years in a row from one man bands to the big companies, took me a while but worth it. Your doing the correct route anyway youve sat a recognised qualification which is a very good start, Ring all the big firms some of them have all different departments high voltage, contracting, domestic branch etc so make sure you apply for all sectors of each firm and believe me a lot of people dont dig that deep, communication between the sectors is very minimal so without trying them all youll never know...

ALL THE BEST

for apprenticeships go with the national companies. they should all be starting to recruit now. Try the electricity boards, the water boards, the railways, underground.

Youll be against 200-300 other people at least so youll have to bring your A-game to the application process. Do some work for free that you can mention in your interviews

Best of luck, do keep trying you will get there in the end, it may take some time with the current conditions but there is someone out there who will want you to work for them.
There will be dark days but these are only there to make the future days even brighter!
You are doing the right thing, the right way and you will get there.

My son was 19 before he landed his apprenticeship, he came close to giving up a few times but wekept kicking his butt back into shape.
Whatever you do, do not give up mate. Like has been said above someone has to get the job so why not you?

you see these are the kind of people that deserve a break in this game......those that have gone down the proper, recognised route as i see it.....but it seems like less work for the competent...more for the 5 week divvys and 'end of the bar' throwbacks.....

Martin, do not give up. There is a lot of support and good advice on this Forum, so use it. You will succeed, you just need to apply yourself to finding that break. Enthusiasm and dedication will carry you a long way so make sure that potential employers see it, it will give you the edge over the other bloke! Best of luck!

took me 14 months to find an apprenticeship, and even then that was with a national company

the apprenticeship website does advertise apprentices but most of them are JTL apprenticeships which are age restricted :/

According to his previous posts he is Korean and done his training through a private training centre and wants to get a job as a spark so he can get a visa to stay here.........
