So I'm a apprentice just started my 2nd year about a month ago, and whenever I'm on site all the other trades seem to take a dislike to us they say we are to arrogant which I never seem to get because all the electricians in my company are the most down to earths people I've worked with but since I've joined this forums and the answers I've been getting from the sparks on here it makes sense why all the other trades take a dislike to us before they've even met us properly, you guys need to change site become so depressing when the other guys don't talk to you and there's no banter you should treat everyone the same just because we spend more time in college doesn't mean we are the most intelligent ones.
I won't reply to this like i would normally, as you're new to the game and good on you for taking an excellent career path.
You will realise when you get more experience how stupid the other trades can be - not one electrician is perfect, far from it, but the mistakes the other trades make that cost us electricians time and money is unbelievable. They show no respect for us, so why should we show respect for them? (having said this, its only on the big sites that this happens, i know plenty of gasmen that are sound and sorted, and the majority of builders, but plumbers - forget it)
As regards to your intelligence comment - as a trade we are by far the most intelligent ones, and you'll realise this when you get more experience. (Im not saying there aren't clever builders, gasmen, plumbers, plasterers out there, because they will be.) All im saying is there's a reason why we go to college for longer, and theres a reason why half the builders don't even dare attempt the electrical course. When i was learning my trade as an apprentice, my college course by the end of it had half as many students. The ones that dropped out, because they couldn't hack it - where do you think they ended up? yep, the brick-laying course.
And technically, although most people may take a dislike to what im about to say......this forum is called the "electriciansforums" and i translate that too meaning only people with : Electrical backgrounds, Electrical Qualifications, Practicing or Retired electricians should be on here. Not joe public wanting to know how to do electrical job's so they don't have to call out electricians - depriving us of work.
We aren't arrogant, we just don't like people medalling with work they're not capable of. You'll learn NadHuh when the plasteres start covering your nice neat wires for you, and the plumbers decide to use the nice holes uve drilled. The trade is dog eat dog, and you'll learn that buddy.
Good luck with the learning though, its a great trade and a wise choice you've made
Happy Christmas + New Year. All the best.
