Rather than build the cabinet properly to fit, the "builders" thought it appropriate just to run the saw down my newly installed consumer unit.....

If you report them to the NIC/ECA nothing happens to them, all they want is the money.And the contractors that do this sort of work or also the ones who charge an arm and leg and give us a bad name.Thats why I stay away from house bashing ill only do call outs and breakdowns if they or stuck.
 
Had a very similar thing a couple of weeks ago with a CU located in a low level kitchen cupboard, there was about 10mm gap between the front cover of the board and a support. A jigsaw soon sorted it.

Think the lovely Wates (only employ poles) were responsible for that.
