For the members in England, here is a link to the consultation document by the gov that points the way that part p will evolve

To avoid reading through the intro, you could start at paragraph 25 and take a close look at par 39

Here is a taste of the proposals

The solution we are proposing is to allow unregistered installers to employ
competent third party electricians to inspect and test their work. Not only do we
expect that this would reduce costs for many unregistered professional installers
and DIYers, but it would also reduce the burden that Part P imposes on building

Sorry if this has been discussed in a thread already, but I could find no mention of it myself

Think we should all just STAND TOGETHER and REVOKE PART P ,its gonna save us all at least ÂŁ500 a year and at the end off the day you've ask yourself what do the likes of NIC EIC ELECSA NAPIT do for this ÂŁ500 ?The answer is **** all apart from turn up on your doorstep once a year and cause you hassle, and still have the cheek to charge for notifying
jobs at about a fiver a time

Cripes, which scheme are you with that charges ÂŁ5 per time??

Actually the tech support is worth a few quid!

Looks to me as if all the money we're paid to the scam providers has been a waste! It appears the preferred amendment to part p is going to allow qualified persons to certificate/sign off their own work without needing to be registered with one of the five scams' as long as they notify building control in advance.Looks to me that we are about to be shafted again!

this has always been the case. however, building control interpret notifying them beforehand involves a fat fee and the issue of a building notice.

Never needed to use tech help yet tbh, always managed to ask other opinions/advice elsewwhere i.e on here or other 'proper sparks' for free.ps been a scam member with NIC EIC for the last seven years, not wanting to offend anybody just feeling a little ripped off if this is the way part p is going to go

From what i can gather it wont change much?? It seems to suggest that there will be two options available if they make the amendments suggested.

1. Somebody part p (1st or 3rd party) registered signs off the work under their scheme.

2. A fully qualified electrician (1st or 3rd party) does the inspection and testing and local building control is notified before and after (involving a charge most likely)

Well thats pretty much how it is now, you dont have to have part p as long as your willing to get building control involved and pay.

ÂŁ80 Full EICR? great.....
