Hello guys,

I have compleated all my courses and qualifications ( 2330, nvq level 3 , am2, 2391, 17th edition, 2377) and I should get my JIB card soon... So i was thinking- what could I do next for further career development?

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Well, 2391-20 is a lower qualification than the 2391 what I allready have.
Emergency lights could be helpful...
HND - how many years is that? What coul I do with it?

I was also thinking about gassafe maybe?

Thanks for your repply!

If you have the 2391-10 the Testing and inspection course then the 2391-20 is the design course the one above it, are you geting mixed up with the 2392 course.

There are no time limits on either the HNC or the HND courses. They are modular courses and your pay for each module or core as you go along. I have know a guy complete his HNC/HND in less that a year.

COLU which is the Teeside University do a distance learning course for both HNC/HND

You would be doing design work, working in a nice warm office in the winter and an air conditioned one in the summer.

You may even go into project management, Your going to be basically an under gradute degree.

Most electrical mangers job will want minimum HNC/HND. SO you could be an area manager for a large Electrical company, A contracts manager.

If you go onto degree well then your looking at engineer status.

You are correct, I have the 2391-10. Just had a look at the 2391-20 description. It looks like a ...well so to say not really needed. I can allready design circuits for avarage domestic, commercial and light industrial requirements.
I dont know, maybe if you are designing on some huge projects you would need that one.

I can't really comment on the facilities management course as never looked into, is it a level 4 course run by the city and Guilds?

The 2391-20 is a good course if your at ease with doing the maths and calculations then I wouldn't bother with it and go straight onto HNC/HND. The HNC course though will give you a maths exercise to see if you need a bridging course for the maths. I've attached the type of maths you need to start an HNC, as a friend of mine is doing this now.

Facilities Management is run by the Instutution for Facilities Management (something like that) . It can be done to degree level as well.
