off the shelf or to order?Just been looking through the local paper there's a full page advert from John Lewis their now got electricians, plumbers, painters, gardeners, carpenters and plasterers what do members know about it?
8 sets of tools in one van, seems reasonableJust seen their job advert.
I see to get around employing different trades they pull the dreaded Multi-skilled card out of the pocket.
For the job you need to have C&G 1 and 2 or JIB or NVQ equivalent/
Also you have to be skilled in all of these..
- Carpentry
- Plumbing
- Decorating
- Bricklaying
- Plastering
- Tiling
Does this mean that you have to belong to their CPS Scheme or are their services being used for the professional vetting? Not seen any information regarding how the paying of the electrical contractor would work regarding rates I don't think it is on the same modal as my builder etc. I suppose that as it's just started and only in a few areas the chances that a forum member is doing this contract work is slim.
Dead on Dillb. So NICEIC are allowing John Lewis to use their brand even though they arent actually registered with them its the contractor that is. Goes to show just what cash leaches these scams are.
I suggest you read the following paragraphs that are taken directly from the PE article again.I am not an ambassador for the NICEIC or any of the schemes but the P.E. article does not say that at all whilst the NICEIC has some good points it is far from perfect, the way I read it the NICEIC seems to be contracted to vet electricians and I dare say they are getting a fee/paid for it. I should think that they must be doing the same with other trade associations/trade bodies someones got to vet the tradespeople their not got the personnel to do it.
ohn Lewis approached NICEIC last year to find electricians for the launch of the scheme. Several NICEIC registered contractors signed up to take part
NICEIC CEO, Emma Clancy, said: “We are delighted to be working with John Lewis on the electrical side of this initiative.
Your right in what you say it is all about money I have said this many times on the forum that they changed about 15 years and become very commercial eg their connections magazine suddenly become full of adverts. I don't think John Lewis are going to be branding the electricians NICEIC approved. It is also going to be unfair against electricians not in their scheme.I suggest you read the following paragraphs that are taken directly from the PE article again.
The way the article describes it is they are using already registered NIC scam sparks, so tjey will be using that brand to advertise them with.Your right in what you say it is all about money I have said this many times on the forum that they changed about 15 years and become very commercial eg their connections magazine suddenly become full of adverts. Corrected that for you AntI am not an ambassador for the NICEIC or any of the schemes but the P.E. article does not say that at all whilst the NICEIC has some good points it is far from perfect, the way I read it the NICEIC seems to be contracted to vet electricians and I dare say they are getting a fee/paid for it.
