Joinging napit but 2391 taken 7 years ago?

Im just in the process of joining napit for full scope, and also want to add the testing and inspection on to it. Now i have recieved paper work i have noticed it says 2391 must of been gained in the last 5 years. Mine was taken in 2004. No one there to answer my questions til monday, so has anyone come across this problem before. I don't see why i would need to retake this qualification if i already have it. thanks Steve

If you consider that you are competent to do period inspection and testing you do not need to be part of a scheme for that. However, a lot of land lords and insurance companies require that you are (and a lot do specifiy NICEIC (due to their ignorance of the existance of other schemes)).

Hehe, in theory .... they are free to choose who they want at the end of the day.

Sure, they are free to choose - but they can't discriminate on the basis of registration either!

2391 is for life, that cannot be changed retrospectively. I think they (Napit) might mean they'd like you to do their "trade test" just to be sure you know it all (which you will have if you passed the mother of all C&G quals!)

They do appear to put forward the highest requirements which I admit I like that about them.

I guess what they are trying to confirm is that you have been working in the electrical industry in the intervening years and therefore remain "a competent person" since passing 2391

I did my 2391 in 2003, I applied for my NAPIT membership and was assessed in August and now I am a full scope member
Part of the assessment was picking my brains about testing etc

Like you I did notice that line about 5 years and I assumed that I would be restricted in my membership

I was going to take a refresher by doing a 2392, but as I'm full scope I don't have to

Glad you deiced not to waste your money Richard, I wouldn't worry about the 5 yr rule ................I did the old 2391-001 hmmmmmmmmmmmm to many years ago and provided your updated with the 17th edition they are pretty easy
