I have registered for Approved Contractor.
Things must have changed then, as i was under the impression that you needed to have been operating as a company/sole trader for 3 years before being able to gain Approved contractor Status!!!
My NIC engineer made it clear that 1 was ok to visit but the risk of non-compliance was much higher if there was an issue.
Things are changing. We had the ECA in this week and they said that inspections look like moving to every 3 years. The NIC bloke said the same last November to me.

when they make the £500 or whatever payable every 3 years that will be a step forward.
Once upon a time Being an Approved Contractor with the NICEIC actually meant something, not anymore any Tom, Dick or Harry can get that status now. They are now just another scam organisation that's sole reason for it's existence is chasing the almighty buck!!
I do agree on most parts, but IMO approved contractor is still regarded higher than other part p scams and their own domestic installer status. Plus you have to have an Nvq 3 to become principal duty holder or a QS for approved contractor status. Ps I also know how you feel about the Nvq 3 lol.
I agree completely.
My statement Will probably go down like a pork sausage in a synagogue on here though lol
