Hello everyone! :) I am Happysteve Junior and I am three and a half. This is me reading the on site guide because the big green book is really BORING cos there are no proper pictures.

Happysteve is my dad, he is training to be an eletrician. Every Monday he goes to "sparky school."

I don't want to be an eletrician. I like pipes. When I am 25 I want to be a plumber. I told this to my Mum and she laughed. I told this to my dad and he looked very sad and said some funny words.

Sometimes a nice man called Paul lets my dad be an eletrician. He makes him very dusty, but its ok because he is always very smiley when he comes home. Yesterday he brought home a box of toys for me to play with, and I know they are mine even though Dad says "that wasn't really the intentshun".

The toys are brill because there are little pipes, and circles and things:

Then I realised you could fit them all together!

I asked Dad if I could put water in them but he looked sad, and said I had to put wires in them instead. So we found some blue wire and some green and yellow wire and I told my Dad where I wanted them to go and we pulled them through together:

He is very pleased with this and says I will make a good eletrician but I am worried about running a single wire through galv fittings and causing heating through eddy currents and shouldn't there be a brown wire? And he says it is called "conduit" if it has wires through it, and pipe if it has water through it, but why can't it have both?

Well done mate, I think you are learning more than your Dad!

I would try and forget about this water thing, it only leads to things going down the drain!

Wires are the way forward.
Electricity is a lot more fun as you get sparks.
Oh, erm, actually yes, that is the point really, you do NOT want sparks.

nice post, steve. good to see him going in the right direction. plumber.. BAH.

Due to Granny having the cheek of wanting to go on holiday for a couple of weeks, I'll be taking my little apprentice out to a late notice site meeting later this morning. I've nothing but praise for those who can generate an interest in their work to their kids at an early age, I reckon by the time mine is five she'll be able to do some simple hand tool and wiring jobs. That's how I was taught the basics - by spending time with my grandfather in the holiday in his workshop making things (in fairness, he was also a primary school head-teacher).

Sadly, many people can't do that - "So Son, let me tell you all about Human Resources.........."

HappySteve Junior, you really should have glued all those bits of pipe together to stop them leaking! :-)

Steve you have just put the biggest smile on my face, great way to start the first morning of a long weekend break.

I have another "sort out" and get some more "toys" for Junior, lets keep him away from the darkside/plumbing lol. See you on Tuesday
