Ive generated a mere 5kW less in Manchester over the same period.

That would soon add up in the summer I would guess- depends on the set up of the system I suppose though.

That would be nice along with having the capital required to purchase 52 systems!

So, Solaredge. What's so special about it? I've seen it mentioned a few times here but am non the wiser.

Solar Edge uses an optimiser on each panel and an inverter with no tracker. End result is that each panel gives of its best and they don't all get dragged down if one is in shade. Means you can run panels on, say, a south-facing and a west-facing roof on the same inverter with no loss of overall performance. Indeed, I have 10 panels facing south (with some shading), 3 facing east and 3 facing west. The only solution that made sende was Solar Edge and it's doing exactly what it says on the tin. I'm very impressed with the performance.

Each optimiser works with all the the others to create a fixed string voltage of around 330v. It bounces up to this in very low light levels and the inverter starts generating at only a few tens of watts.

Not inverters, and the inverter is less complex so less costly. Overall works out a bit more expensive than a straightforward system, but equivalent to or less than having two inverters in the two roofs scenario. I've only installed one of them but it's doing the business. The OP seemed to suggest the one he'd seen was on an all-south roof - wouldn't bother with it there unless a lot of shading issues, but it's worth a look for a multi-directional roof setup. Have a look at their videos. It's a solution, not necessarily THE solution.
