hi guys just to ask i have been offered a kt64 for 280 pound brand new is that good? and also i have no problems with any test procedures but i need to differenciate between a 16th and 17th edition fuse board,(does it mean if its been installed before 2008 its not 17th edition) many thanks

a 17th is just a term it would have dual rcd or rcbo configurations as these have become standard under the latest regs
so
no rcd or just the one then its not to 17th

cheers, so if a fuse board has just one rcd covering the sockets and showers, and has the lights on the same side of the fuse board with no rcd protection then it need upgrading. this is a code 4 yes?

Nope, it doesn't need upgrading as the regulations aren't retrospective. You could try to sell an upgrade to a customer saying that it doesn't comply with the latest regulations, but you can't imply that it's dangerous. Code 1's and 2's would require upgrading, even some code 3's, but not a 4.

It's all set to change about this time next year anyway with periodics...
