In Scotland the building regs require it.
Wow, I had no idea it was different. Mind you, I didn’t even know Scotland had electricity. That Nicola has really moved things along up there, hasn’t she?

Only on Mondays and Wednesdays. The rest of the time we burn peat and whale oil.
It stops all the English softies from moving to the best part of the land. :D

Interesting if kitchen units constitute the fabric of the building, debatable.
As a side point, while this is not the electricians install problem (Unless MI state as a requirement), my mother in law just had a fire inspector do a free survey and she stated the she should isolate the DW and TD each evening, she now can't get to the back of the adjecent cupboard to do so, should have at least been put nearer the front.

Put the sockets and isolators in the cupboards next to the appliances

agree but dont agree with putting hob isolator in a cupboard that need to be readily available. Only time this is ok ifthe hob is integrated into a island imo, but even then it can usually be put on underside of the worktop overhang.
