Hi, so in my fuse box i have an old shower 6mm cable that has been redirected to be used as a kitchen ring (split in to two 2.5mm). My question is the cable runs trough the loft (top floor flat). I have had the loft insulated and read that cables the run close there their load should run over insulation (which is done) so they don't over heat. But i am concerned about the roof ambient temp now?

In theory it may be an issue....in practice I've yet to see a pvc insulated cable in a loft damaged due to ambient temp......remember it's unlikely to be loaded for long periods.
If all looks ok dont lose any sleep.

Ps...(are you a bit of a worrier?);)

i dont think you need to worry mate , as wire puller has said its a kitchen ring and un likley to be run at full load for long periods all i would do is identify the CDU that the cable changes size as that could be confusing for people working on the circuit

the cable is v easy to trace... you can see it going up in plastic....

Thats fine but why i said identify the board was any one carrying out work on it may not go into the loft just remove the cover off the CDU and see a 6mm not 2 x 2.5mm if you see what i mean so a note identifying the cable change imediatly advices the electrician that it changes

but when you look in the fuse box you can see a 30A fuse and you can see the 6mm. going from it... i labled it kitchen. Then under the work top you can see two 2.5mm (ie behind washing machine etc).

still need note on or by CU stating " Fuse no'? 6mm feeding 2.5mm Kitchen Sockets" or words to that effect.

yes but its on a 30 amp fuse you do have a correction factor for 3036 rewireable fuses which when aplied to the equation works out at 41 amps to blow a 30 amp fuse but even so when you take diversity int account then its ok as long as the cookers not connected to it to and that the ring is contiuose through all points , the only real point of concern would be the junction box connections

So in there you have a 6mm and 2 2.5s connected into the socket that would be abit tight to get in is the 6mm conductors all there or has it been trimmed to fit the socket some of the cores cut off
