its not realy good practice doing this hence the reason i said the board needs to be identified that it has been done the thing that does concern me is the fact that the connection has been made in a socket knowing full well that a 6mm and 2 2.5's are going to be a tight squeeze if not impossible what i have seen done is strands of the 6mm cut off so they will fit , doing this then reduces the current carrying capacity of the cable so you initial thoughts could come true overload of the connection in the socket due to the cable being manipulated to fit could be worth checking if the cable has been trimmed to fit if you see what i mean ,
 
i have just taken off front to have a look.... you cant see the conductors of the 6mm, the sleeve is right up tight. the other 2.5 conductors you can see...

so on the fuse box would you put "6mm feeding 2.5mm Kitchen Sockets - First socket at junction box" this would advise anyone later what is exactly there? Also does post 17 sound ok...
