Ok, so I start this weekend on installing a new kitchen ring for a friend and I require a little guidance.

My friend is having a gas hob fitted, with electric oven underneath and then an oven hood above. I'm just wondering how you'd wire these items. My first thought was to spur off the kitchen ring up to a switched FCU directly above the gas hob for the cooker hood, but also I'm under the impression that the electric oven also requires a switched FCU to be located in an easily accessible location (most say the inside of a unit, but I don't fancy fixing a FCU to the inside of one of the new units!).

Any help appreciated.

Go for 2 radial circuits, both 20A, end one of the radials at the hood. Put the oven on its own supply, but if you have the oven outlet below the worktop level (which you will), fit a switched spur above the worktop to one side of hob for the oven.

Radial in 4mm for the kitchen points or a ring in 2.5....its your call mate. You can put fcu in kitchen cupboards (you can use a double gate box as you will need 2 fcu) 1 for the hood the other for the igniter for the hob (dont forget to fuse em down to 3A)
Best o luck mate.......
