Hi guys help needed please.

Been asked to quote for electrics in new kitchen. It will involve a fair bit of new wiring but old fuse board or 2 of them are wilex bs3036's. Surely I have to price in for a new dual rcd board to meet part p?

Thanks

podgie.

Hi Podgie I would give them the choice of a board change and bond up if required or split the tail and fit a board just for a new kitchen ring/cooker circuit. but remember the bonding will still need to be done if 6mm

Hope this helps:p

Yes thanks. What would you do with the old cicuits. Ie kitchen ring and lighting etc. Also there are 3 seperat power circuits fed from different places. Spurs off upstairs ring and radial off immersion heater 15amp circuit. It's a bit of a mess!

Thanks.

If fitting a new cu just for the kitchen then i would strip out the old ring and rewire to new board,If changing light fitting then put this on the new RCD board also.

If stripping out all the old boards then test all circuits and update as requider.

Remember that if you change any circuits then you have to update to the new requirments ie the 17th Reg's.

Nice one.

what would you do if it's impossible to strip out old circuits because they come from above with a wooden floor down and bedroom full to brim with crap.. Terminate in jb's in the ceiling? Plaster to platster entire kitchen.

Thanks

Ideally not no, leave it accessible if possible. Maybe put it in a surface box above a kitchen unit and clearly labelled.

Sorry didn't quite understand that:confused:

What i mean by strip out, is disconnect at the cu:rolleyes: If you mean how would i go about putting new cable routes in place, And you can't get under the floor of the kitchen or the bedroom above the I would cut a channel in the kitchen ceiling and fish all the cable from/to the drops. And just add a bit off
plaster board and plaster when finished.

sorry for not being a bit clearer. Hope this helps
