Not on about the CPS Andy. LABC is what I'm on about, or are they in Cahoots? In defence my Elecsa assessor was really good. Made me carry out a full range of tests on initial assessment and did a thorough job every year.

Thank's Mr EHi Pete,
When I rewired my house I enquired with Stoke LBC as they had the two tier charging system (i, qualified but not part of a scheme, and ii, non-qualified) and buried in the small print of their Building Control Guidance was a note that the qualification required was the C&G 2392 -Level 2 Certificate in fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification.
i would say this pretty much covers it.How would you define competent pete?

Therein lies the question / answer Ian, I have been working as an Electrician for more years than I care to remember, am I competent? clearly not into todays parlance, don't have the cards to get on site etc, but health being an issue I could show some of these youngsters a clean pair of heels that's for sure. How would you define competent pete?
Well I studied 2x evenings /week for 3yrs at college while working full time, met some excellent very experienced sparks who could handle the practicals but they fell apart in the exams and left. It is a shame as there is room for all but some organisations think you need a gold card and there are very few ways to it..well mine is brown and proud and with that card I was able to do site work...the supervisors would give me more interesting work as time went on. I would not care who has what as long as the work is carried out in a safe manner & to a good standard ( I passed my 2391 in the second year but was not recognised until I finished my third year and NVQ...well the recession brought a halt to the NVQ. Don't get me wrong the studies were a good grounding but practical hard work wins everytime.
I'm not really sure what you are talking about in this instance then Pete. If it's a specific issue rather than a general question you would be best ringing the labc involved as they will probably have differing requirements to other local authorities. Thanks but the issue I'm referring to the subject does not belong to a part P CPS, does the phrase left hand doesn't know what the right hand is up to? a bit like Government compartmentalisation springs to mind, and I should know.
Deleted sorryYes about £400 plus half a day off work.
