Ladders

Need some help picking a ladder, being from the commercial/industrial side of things I've been told to believe that ladders of all kinds will kill you without a seconds hesitation, literally look at the things and they will break your neck! But as I am starting to do my own thing I need some sort of ladder.

Now i've only got a VW caddy so I don't really want a roof rack with a double extension plonked on the top at all times so I've been looking at these combination ladders, has anyone had au experience with these? I've found one but it's only 3.38m long which is handy when it's folded up but getting to anything much of 3m when it's set up will be a challenge.

any ideas on the best solution?

had 1 for years. bloody brilliant. buy a good one, though. there's a lot of cheap crap about.

I have a youngman one purchased from costco for about £50. Very good quality for the price although some boards would be nice for when it is in the "bench" setting.

One of the five-rung Little Giant ladders might suit. Over 5m long when opened out and extended. I have a six rung one which goes easily in the back of my SWB transit, with length to spare. Heavier than an equivalent extension ladder, but more versatile and no need for a roof rack.

Little Giant Telescopic Ladders

Just got some
Brilliant IMO (have the 5 ring ) when open in a apex- solid and comfortable to work - have more "shakes" with my zagres sky masters but the zagres do go higher when in A frame position
The little giant is my go to ladder for nearly everything

I've got something similar...although from that im not sure what the difference is apart from the price. Mine were £80 from B&Q.

They're a god send, absolutley awsome bit of kit - especially if you've got a little van. You won't regret buying mate, decent purchace.

They're abit of a faff at first, but once you've got the mechanics of it you'll be slapping them into different shapes in no time.

Just another pointer, i suggest you figure out how they operate at home first and don't do what i did and get yourself in a tangle on site getting laughed at by a 'odd job man'

true story, unfortunatley.
