i replaced a incandescent bulb with a energy saving lamp, but the lamp keeps flashing, i checked the voltage in the ceiling rose, but no voltage at all, how come the lamp keeps flashing?

i have to use the incandescent bulb again.

anyone has come cross this before?

cheers in advance

This is a common problem especially on 2 way lighting circuits wired in the conventional way.
To rectify this you need to rewire the switches to the conversion method to elminate any induced voltage or fit a snubber into your light fitting.

the simple answer is induction, the long answer is capacitance...is the light 2-way switched? is it a particular long run from switch point to to light fitting, is the switch wire/s bunched with other cables. Is there an earth wire in the same switch feed, is the earth wire a 'good earth'

low energy are crap btw ...problems, problems problems...and dim -:)

beat me to it sintra!

hi, thanks for your replies,

this is a one way light switch, the other lights in the house can work quite well, no flickers, only one keeps flickering when turn off swutch...

errm is this a old house ??? wonder if you have negative switching i have seen it once energy saving lamps flicker and it was all swopped over worked then .. somthing to do with + side of the sinewave that makes the lamp flicker

I had this problem with a mirror light in a bathroom ,found that the light connections were incorrect and the L an E were reversed so may be worth while checking the polarity of the fitting , or its a dodgy lamp
