A friend of mine who is an alarm engineer just bought a defender, it was 36k, he also had a huge roof rack fitted on it, looks nice, but very basic inside, they are not designed for looks are they? they really are the ultimate off road car, I can think of none better, a brilliant 4x4.

I agree.
It does what it says on the tin.

Load of Bollox, there is no doubt some cars in all ranges get problems, However regarding Range Rovers you will see lots around 20 years old for sale in immaculate condition and still priced at 2-3k, full service history and lots of very proud owners, I can google any car and say the word problem next to it and it will come up with discruntled owners, for example shoguns, the great car, it is renown for being a rough ride and bad road handling, I used to own one for 5 years and it was a great vehicle, but read about them lol, also read about any car you like, you will see good and bad comments regarding them all, do you honestly think a range rover which is at the top end of the market is total carp? your talking bollox mate.

(That's some painful sentence structure to read)

Of course they're in immaculate condition, they just ponce about on main roads and it's not surprising they reach over 150,000 miles. I've seen farm abused ford rangers see 200,000, it's nought amazing

Googled Mitsubishi Pajero problems About 437,000 results
Googled Mitsubishi shogun problems About 86,600 results
Googled range rover problems About 1,720,000 results

lol

Fine?
I think it is just a status symbol for most.
It's huge size, cost, and immense thirst for the motion lotion make it an impractical proposition for most people. How useful is that four wheel drive on the school run? Or on the motorway.....or the supermarket car park.......even if you can find a space to squeeze into....

And, as for the "girly" Evoque version - it just looks wrong. Produce a big vehicle then rob space with that silly looking sloping roof makes even less sense.
the tyres make a big difference, most people struggle in the rain let alone snow.

snow tires are not expensive and you just swap them out till weather warms up, ive got uniroyal rain experts on mine and it sticks very well (unless im trying to slide it)

No dick head, thats land rovers and range rovers, the discovery is renown for issues, 75% of those on google are discovery problems, as I mentioned earlier all cars will get bad reviews, all cars, your trying to slate a car you have never owned or driven, It is like trying to communicate with a chimpanzee.

Try it yourself.

i was at customers of mine on friday who had a new range rover sport which was about 80k worth.nice wheels.
its broken down 4 times in that space of time.
for that kind of loot you don't expect a car to break down at all.
my brother has a v8 sport which is also v nice but has had a few niggles with it.
plus the fact we look like like a couple of drug dealers when he takes me anywhere in it
i had a shot of a new long wheelbase defender at a job last month which reminded me of an 80s cortina it was that basic and heavy handed.
i think land rover/range rover need to look at their quality control more closely
