Used in schools where there's a need to store laptops and keep them charged up, the example I've seen has slots for ten laptops and their chargers. The chargers plug in to what appear to be fixed 5-way extensions and the whole lot is powered via one 13amp plug.

Given that chargers are rated at about 2amp each and there ten of them, there must be more to it. I can see there are some electronics involved ("Power 7 energy management") and there are warnings displayed to the effect that they must only be used for powering laptop chargers.

Does anyone know how they do it? Thanks.

Doh! You're right. I've just measured my laptop charger, input rated 100-240volt 1.7amp and it's drawing 0.1amp while powering the laptop.

So might "power 7 management" be snake-oil? Thanks by the way.
