Laser measures

Does anyone use them and are they any good?

Had a stanley one years ago, but was rubbish. Not consistant at all, it was an ultrasonic version. Are the ones that use the laser to measure any better. I read that they have a tolerence of +/- 1.5mm. Is this right?

We use PLS and de walt both very good and robust, PLS has multi functions for setting out etc.

If they are saying an accuracy of+/- 1.5mm then i reckon they can be used rather accurately, or is it just the manufacturer blag?

Have a Bosch one, very accurate, don't compare them with the ultrasonic ones which are utter junk.

Leica Disto every time, used by surveyors and architects. Very accurate easy to use and reliable i have been using them for years. Only one for me.

Leica Disto are excellent. But i doubt any better than the Bosch at the end of the day . Like for like i think they would give same reseluts

I have that one and it is excellent, double checked measurements with tape first time I got one, just to be sure.
Very accurate and does all sorts of measurements, I would recommend it.

Fluke do a complete range

The top unit is accurate to +/-1.5mm at 100mtrs.
It also works out volumes, and heights using pythagoras calculations.

I don't know how the prices stack up but i have seen it on some test equipment web sites.

Seen the Fluke range, but managed to get the Bosch for around 80 quid so price won me over in the end.

Bosch ok for occasional user but not in the same league as Disto. I would not trust it in bright light or over long distances.

I use the Leica Disto it is very accurate and reliable well worth the money

I have a bosch one (paid about the same with a "free" bosch watch). Has prooved to be very accurate so far, used mainly for cutting studs for walling, headers and sole plate etc. Seems to be very frugal on batteries as well
