Hi mate.
I'm ex RAF , I came out in 2001, Just as my mates were being trained up in rub hangers before the invasion of iraq, so got out at just the right time!!!
I was a rigger in the RAF, and am now a fully qualified city and guilds 2330 spark, I've also taken the 17th edition course , I'll be on the 2391 in october (test and inspection) and am planning on doing the level 4 22 week design course in jan.
I decided to re-trade and haven't looked back mate, my only regret is that I didn't do this on leaving school (am 29 now) I absolutley love my job and we do domestic commercial and industrial, so go for it mate. It is a struggle at first trying to find the time to go to college for 2 evenings a week over 3 years when you have a family. I have an expensive missus, a little girl and another little un due in sept, so know how you feel about being the bread winner.
Really tho mate go for it, ive never had a more varied , interesting and rewarding career in my life.
hope this helps
