i've not got them yet but they look good from what i've seen, i like the push fit connectors

Very much depends on the dimmer you are planning to use - Check with JCC for de-rating advice first. JCC tend to recommend the 'Zano' dimmer who will also advise on maximum fittings per circuit for dimming.

Most popular choices here at the moment are:

Integrated downlights:
Halers - Biggest colour finish range and you dont have to pay the extra for dimmable if you don't need it
KSR LED10 - Brighter than both the JCC LED7 and the Halers H2 (easily as bright a a 50w LV Halogen) - Better choice of dimmers
JCC LED7 - Dearer than the Halers, but easier to fit.

Separate down-lights with GU10 LED Lamps:
iCAGE down light - from ÂŁ12 +VAT with LED Lamp iCage Fire Rated Die-Cast Downlight Low Energy LED Lamps [AICD]
Red Arrow downlight - from ÂŁ9.95 +VAT with LED Lamp Fire Rated Downlight Die Cast Twist Lock With LED Lamp

Both are available with the new 'Megaman Dimmable 6w' LED lamp which we're finding dims very well with a range of dimmers (particularly the Scolmore ones).
iCAGE price ÂŁ16.48 +VAT. Red Arrow ÂŁ14.95 +VAT (Both complete with the Megaman Dimmable Lamp)

i have used halers which are tops but tried the JCC fire guard light output is far better but the stupid flippin clips useless if the jcc had the same clips as the halers then they would be top notch

which clips?

also on another note I have just received some from the wholesalers, and i notice in the instructions it says it is bad practice to lay insulation over them, yet they use it as one of the selling points in the brochure!

I'm reliably informed by contractors who have fit both that the KSR LED10 units are a brighter version of the JCC LED7 but with a better fixing clip system. Anyone else tried them?

We use fire rated 240v Robus GU10 downlights (cost about tenner). And replace halogens that come with them with GU10 Deluce LED bulbs which come in warm white or blueish and dimmable/non-dimmable. (also cost about a tenner).

So roughly ÂŁ20 a light. (Can get more specific details if interested!)

Evening all, i`m pricing a rewire which is to have 42 LED downlights. Can anyone recommend a fairly decent product ( cant be too pricey )

I`m quite immpressed with JCC FIREGAURD LED7 ones but boy are they expensive.

If you are looking for LED down lights, then try Fire rated LED down lights. This is an amazing products, featuring unique and useful functionality. For you, I would recommend 'Fire Stop 240v GU10 Adjustable Fire Rated Downlight (Satin Chrome)' .. To buy this online, visit - Fire Rated DownlightsThanks!

Be very careful about dimming of Leds lamps you might run into trouble if you don't get compatible dimmers to the leds they will strobe when being dimmed, as we found to our cost lately having to replace all the dimmers in the house we did Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and even then in some rooms 5 of the 6 fitting's will be fine and one will still strobe and you end up buying another lamps as well,( I hate LED's lol)

I also do not believe they give anywhere near the same light as a GU10 Halogen lamp as the Led's don't spread and I think the white ones are slightly blue in colour not true white

Depends what you buy. These will give 50W+ equivalent brightness and a choice of beam angles and colour temperatures:
Ledlite LED Downlights IP66 Fire Rated

Sylvania 7.5 watt led a true 50 watt equivalent or 6.5 watt warm white that's dim able ÂŁ18 I only use these or for a fixed unit starlites got 20 of these in my house

i've just fitted 20 LED7's, took about 2 hours (just fixing the lights in, the holes were drilled previously) which is not bad going i dont think, once you get the hang of the push fit terminals it's dead easy. last kitchen i did was with GU10 cans and LED retrofits and there was 24, and when you have 24 a substantial time is spent unpacking the fitting, removing the halogen, unpacking the LED lamp, fitting it, boxing up the halogen again, then removing the terminal cover , flex grip and slackening the teminal screws so it's ready to fit. with the LED7 it's pretty much ready to fit, you have to remove it from the box, and using a screwdriver it takes 2 seconds to pop off the cover and the flex grip.
as for the hole size, I drilled a test hole at 76mm, and i found that it wasn't very secure in the hole, so decided i'd better follow the manufacturers instructions (71-73mm) and got a new 72mm holesaw. i then drilled 19 more holes and thought no need to check them, the manufacturers instructions will be spot on, but with 72mm holes, it is really tight! they only just go in, i would not like to have to remove one they are that tight. there's no way you'll get them in the hole with 71mm holes, so i don't know why they say that? that said, with 72mm holes they fit spot on once they are in, i've heard reveiws saying the fixing clips are not good enough, but with 72mm holes they are nice and tight and don't move at all. so i think i might try 73mm next time i install some
but the fact that it takes approx 6 minutes as opposed to 15 minutes to fit is a win in my book. i'm never installing downlights with screws on ever again (unless i'm subbing)
