LED Head torch batteries

I think 160 lm for 11hrs is pretty good. Compared to h7r which on high would last about 2 hours. I tend to use medium setting of 90 lm this lasts for a couple of days with full use. And you say it's just a torch you strap to your head well isn't that what a head torch is.

yes but here you are comparing low on the zebra to high on tge h7.

it would last at least 8-10 hours on half brightness which is more than good enough for most.

i find my h7 lasts weeks

I wouldn't recommend a led lenser h7r to ayone!!! First of all when I went to remove the plug after charging it for the first time the "sealed" unit fell apart leaving the exposed live pins plugged into an outlet!

So I thought it's only the plug the head torch is fine. So I plastic welded the crappy plug back together avoiding any chance of the thing falling apart while plugged in!!

After a week of use the rear slider at the back stopped working and the on/off button was intermittent. In most cases I had to remove a battery to turn the thing off.

Completely useless bit of kit and with the price tag it's robbery straight in the bin

did you get a knockoff? ive been using the normal 7 for nearly 2 years and it gets abused and thrown around in bag etc and no problems at all

Brilliant , never thought about miners head lamp Thanks mate

Well thinking about it those things have to stay lit for long periods of time under very tough conditions so should be more than good enough for what the likes of us need.

you could always find one you like then put a big battery pack on it.

for example the makita one takes a 18v 3-5ah battery and transforms it down to whatever the input voltage is for the lamp

Well I like this one!

me great grandad has a couple different davey lamps.

he was a mining engineer, he still designs stuff now.

he designed a lot of the heavy machinery.

it is very interesting the design behind them to stop explosions in gas pockets

Aye .... and in this part of the world these lamps are known as Geordie Lamps.

Phillistines in other parts of the country call them Davy Lamps.

I'd agree with shanky. Sounds like a fake. Mines pretty well built and never given any trouble. Where did you buy it from?

No definitely real, bought it from a reputable hunting/fishing store on ebay which I've used many times. I'm not sure if I had a dud one but I wasn't impressed, I had an older version Led lenser before the h7r and that was a poor design too

Currently I just use a rechargeble led floodlight and don't bother with headtorches, until I find a decent one
