Guys, looking for some help here.

I done some work for a customer installing 11x 8.5W ip rated dimmable downlights with a dimmer switch for his toilet.

Anyways, I had to go back yesterday to finish up work for another part of the house. when getting there, the guy tells me that the tiler says that the lights went off and on once for a brief second, but to a very low brightness and he had to turn the dimmer off and back on again to put the lights back up to full brightness. This happened after about 5 hours of having the lights on. So, i checked everything out, all looks good, re connect everything and test results were fine. So I suggested changing the dimmer switch to see if that's the problem. Done this, no problems with me all day whilst Im there.

Get a phone call tonight, oh, the tiler says the lights went off and on again.

Im still new at working on my own, but I really can't think what else is causing the problem. I don't know if its the tiler talking rubbish to try and make up for the fact he should of been finished last week!

Does anyone have any suggestions? I did notice that they have all the upstairs lights on the same type of dimmers too, which have all the same LED lights installed and none of these cause problems.

Any one got any ideas from their past experience?

You need a low voltage dimmer(well low wattage) i think mate
I THINK
**I'M JUST A TRAINEE**
The lights are only drawing 93.5Watts low voltage dimmers work on 40watts+ i think and also check to make sure the lights are actually dimmable

How big is his toilet?? 11 downlights?? Does he live in Buckingham Palace

Seriously though I suspect you have overloaded the dimmer as the start up current is probably frying it!

The guys loves light is really the best explanation lol

the previous electrician that was in done the same in his en-suite and all is fine in this toilet, sames number of lights and dimmer. (En-suite is pretty big, but overkill on lights again)

Have you got the right dimmer trailing edge for most led lights ive come across vari light is probably the best , if its a vari light just check its not one of those fancy programmable ones
