Good evening guys

I cant seem to find any led tubes that give out the same light output as fluorescents

Anyone can point me in the right direction in particular looking for A 4ft led tube with 3k lumens+

Seems to me there's abit of a con where the manufacturers are saying 50% saving etc but it doesn't give out anywhere near the same amount of light

Are you looking to just change the tube and keep the existing fitting? I've used the BG offering many times, but I don't think it is available in Warm White (3000k), it's as bright as Fluorescents or as near as if not better, but will be Cool white (4000k).

I've retrofitted many and can't think what they call the blooming range, Luceco rings a bell but it is from BG. Find it very good:thumbsup:

I'm a little confused...if converting recessed ceiling panels the best thing to do is change the entire unit - Ansell and Enlite do some great units.

If changing lamps in a fluorescent fitting then just change them (4Ft, 5Ft, 6Ft are readilly available at wholesalers). If Switched Start fittings you may need to change the starter (it comes with the Lamp anyways) and if Hi Frequency a little internal rejigging will be needed.

From what I've seen a 4ft led will put out 2k ish

Where a fluorescent will put out 3k lumens +

So at the moment one fitting will put out 12k lumens

And led will put out 8k

So what I'm looking for are some led lamps that put out the same light

A fluorescent will put out 3k on day 1 and go downhill thereafter
An LED will put out 2k on day 1 and will still be close to that the day it dies.

If no-one makes 3k LEd 4ft then there's either no demand or no need.

Have you tried a comparison between LED an Flu for the same length tube?

You may also need to consider the way in which the lumen figure is obtained.
The LED lamps only emit light in 180 degree arc whereas the fluorescent tubes emit light in a 360 degree arc.
If the lumen figure is measuring the total light output the Fluorescent will give double the value of an LED but the light seen from below will be of equal brightness (assuming there are no reflectors above the lamp).
I must admit I do not precisely know the methods of measurement but I have noticed discrepancies in the comparison of lamps lumen output.

Well I have 2 double 600mm fluoresents in my workshop and after seeing some led tubes cheap. I thought it time for a test.
The fittings were high frequency so rejigged the fitting feeding the line and neutral to one end .
The tubes were 9w t8 made by venture supplied with a (replacement starter if needed) Venture 9W LED Tube 600mm (2ft) T8 6500k / Daylight 800lm TBS009 - https://www.internationalleds.co.uk/led-tubes-and-striplights/venture-9w-led-tube-600mm-2ft-t8-6500k-daylight-800lm-tbs009/7952
The difference in the light output is very noticable ( much brighter but no way of testing it with a meter)
old tubes 18w new 9w so 50% saving and better output = win win the led strip is in the top of the tube but is diffused to give a good spread.

Had a look in the new replacement starter its a fuse
