Life after the 2391

Greetings.

The 2391 is a challenging exam and IMO worth doing.
It's an old school proper exam.
Such a pity it is soon to be defunct.

My question is are there any other exams out there worth doing?
Challenging but the worth the paper they are written on.
Domestic, commercial, any really.

Any opinions welcome.

HNC/HND Electrical Engineering is a good place to start

agreed mate I felt great after doing mine, its good to put the effort in and realise your knowledge and competance with a real exam unlike all the multi choice silly exams in the 2330, Im also considering continuing my education aswell so id like to hear the result of this thread

Sorry to take this slightly off topic, but when does the 2391 become defunct then?
What is going to replace it? as i am thinking of doing the 2391 next.

I totally agree, I remember when i got my results come through the post, I just sat there holding the piece of paper with the biggest smile on my face for ever.:clap: Who ever i met had to know what Had just happened to me, the milk man the man in the newsagent, the bin men, when i say everyone, i mean everyone. Defonatlly wort it in my oppinion, I was planning on doing the 2391-20 next and then later do the hnc electrical engineering, I did start the hnc in building services but got too busy with work and gave it up, might start it again soon though.

When the pass rate of an exam falls the answer seems to be create a new qualification thats easier to pass
There is also the issue of income stream for the exam boards and trainers, a new qualification means more income as they want everybody to do the new exam as the old quali will not be in vogue as employers and scam schemes want to see the latest qualification
I find it quite funny that my old pre NVQ 3 qualifications are not up to the mark now in some situations as I don't have an NVQ 3 or an AM2

Where have you got the information from that the 2391 is going? I was planning to do it early next year so what will be replacing it and are colleges up to speed with the new course

I dont think the 2391 will be vogue theres just a new qual coming out for example i have my 2330 but thats been replaced with the 2382 or whatever the 17th one is called it doesnt mean i dont have any qualifications i just did the update.

I think the 2391 is being broken down to 3 parts, comes into force in January 2012, so to get the same qualification as the 2391 now, it will cost you 3 times as much. I think. Thats why i am doing mine now, instead of paying around £500, it will be about £1500.
