Dear All
I have a vague recollection of something from Part L that gives a max number of light fittings per switch if the switch is not a dimmer but I can't for the life of me find it.
Anyone point me in the right direction please
Ta

Not in Part L. That only deals with the minimum lumens per watt that the light fittings must achieve.

The OSG gives you diversity calcs based on old style GLS lamps of 100watts each. Not appropriate now we have low energy LED lighting all over the place.

Dimmer and switch maximums just need to be compatible/appropriate for the load.

Domestic Part L overview here
UK Building Regulations - PhotonStar Lighting

Domestic building services compliance guide 2014. Table 42.
A single switch should normally operate no more than 6 light fittings with a total load <= 100W.
Thank you Richard
With LED lamps 6 seems very low. If I use 7.5w led's I assume I can go up to 13 ( which is not unusual in a large kitchen or lounge) as it will stay under the 100w max

Six seems a reasonable number in domestic until you come to downlights!
You just have to watch the inrush current and see if the manufacturer advises the maximum number of lights simultaneously switched on the appropriate breaker.
