Hi, I've seen a lightmate kit by kewtech which is £45 and includes all common light fitting connections, (SES, SBC, BC, ES, GU10).

I was was wondering if it's worth the money for tests. The only thing is, I would have to expose connections for an r2+r2 anyway, since the light mates connect to line neutral.

Anybody have the the kit and recommend?

I thought it was only on a RFC you tested r1,r2 and rn???

I think they are ok, save a bit of time on occasions and help free up a hand. You might find they can add a little additional ohmage if poor connections

They are OK but furiously expensive for what they are, I generally find that the adaptors do not fit into the convoluted lamp holders that many lights have, also when you have expose the earth it is often easier just to put your probes on and test.

I bought just the lightmate, then I bought a combination of adaptors to fit the combinations.
Null them before testing and they do the job.
I checked at roses etc to make sure the readings were consistent before trusting them.

Got mine from an auction site for less. It comes in very handy, dont use all the time but a good addition. Have to say Kewtech were brilliant as a week after getting from an auction site one of the units failed. I contacted them and they even replaced for me which is great customer service from the guys at Lincoln

Lightmates make Zs testing safer and quicker. Never leave home without them. Yes they are worth the money.

If you conduct a lot of EICRs, these look like they would be a godsend.
Bit pricey for me though.

Worth their weight in gold ..... had some for years.....

Got to agree with you but at the price some might think they are made from gold

Have had a set for a good few years that came as part of this kit , makes testing a bit easier when you are up a ladder

As a bonus with the kit I use the PAT adapter and break out plug from the kit to convert an extension lead into a wander lead when I need one

they won't work with some test leads due to the nanny protection against dumbos touching the live parts of the leads when in use. cutting the plugs off the test leads and wedging them in with a red rawlplug seems to work well. :drunk:

They are very good. Kewtech also make an adaptor which is 3x4mm banana sockets on a block with a flex tail you can fit any plug to (eg a rock rose plug or 16A plug)
I've made my own version with a besa box for three phase sockets, I'll post a pic later
