I have been asked by a customer who doesnt want a ceiling switch in a bathroom to move the exisiting plate switch to the other side of the wall - about a 5 min job. however this will put the plate switch for the bathroom above the second step on the stairs going downstairs. It doesnt come out to the landing but instead above the stairs as it begins to drop to the ground floor. I have said i cant put it there as its above the stairs, but the local council have said to do so and i want to know if there needs to be a clearance from the top of the stairs to any accessories like switches, sockets ect. I have never put them above the stairs, need to know if there is an solid YES or NO to positioning a light switch so close to the fall of the top of the stairs. also the Reg if one exists

cheers for the help!
