Basically mate, I think you had a 3 core down to the switch from the first light, utilizing the:
RED as Permanent Live
YELLOW as switched live to one light
Blue as switched live to the other light

T+E from first light to second
All neutrals joined in first light,
RED from T+E (to 2nd light) joined to BLUE of the 3 core? (connector in first light)

If so this a common method and 100% acceptable, theres more then one weay to skin a cat!

Fair play for asking though, if your not sure ......ask

Thats a better reply. Thanks for that. I've been out of the game for a few years as I have been in the military and cannot remember wiring lighting like that. It will come back eventually. :)

Yes I have seen a 3 core used before as a strapper. This is not the case at all. If you would read what I have put it is not wired in a conventional way. I would use a 3 core for 2 way . If I would have uploaded the photo you would have seen the snag. Fortunatly I have sorted the issue now. Was deffo not a neautral as well, deffinatly a switch live.

I don't even think we are on the same page

You probably wouldn't wire it like that TBH mate, however when they cut chases by hand, one cable was better then 2! The way to look at it is- Is it safe and does it do what its supposed to do!

The lights in my front room are wired like this! I also have wired lights like this, although learnt my lesson on led lights where they pick up an induced voltage from the light that's on core and flash every minute or so lol

SERIOUSLY! Have you never seen or used a three core and earth cable to wire a 2gang switch before???
Absolute basic domestic wiring technique! Why is this even a post anyway??!! and why is the OP working without supervision??!!

Course I have, I'm not the one stuck?
was just another possibility, have you never seen that done before?

And no not a Electrical Trainee. I was on the tools from being 16 years old. The comments there are a tad condesending. If I would have uploaded the photo you would have seen the snag. IMO the only conventional part of wiring anything is electricity into one of the cable and out of the other end to operate what is connected to how it does it providing it meets the regs is acceptable

There are a number of ways to wire a two way lighting circuit but which is the conventional way to do it as they all work and are installed to suit the situation.

This sounds like the circuit has been modified at some time and consideration has to also be given to a number of factors including ease of installation and cost and in domestic properties while modifying circuits minimising damage to decoration is always the customers stress point
