I'm learning the trade and I'm curious to how general switching to pendants operate and what's the principles and theoretical views post diagrams too if you could :)

2 ways to do it. loop at light and have a switch drop, or loop at switch and take s/l and N to light. can't do diagram as my free trial of smartdraw has expired and i'm too tight to pay for it.

Prefer to take feeds to switches then onto your lights. Makes for easier installation especially for downlights, wall lights and 'I've-never-lifted-a-tool-in-my-life-but-got-a-degree' designed light fittings. Also handy when the client keeps changing their mind on where they want lights

Although on rewires it's normally easier to take feeds to pendants and then one off to the switch. Alternately use a wiring center (a box full of mf connectors) connected to various lights, feeds or switches if you have limited access to walls, ceilings etc

I'm 18 and I'm a fully qualified alarm engineer and fit alarms regular and now i want to become an fully qualified electrician to the 17th edition and I'm gonna start college in September and I don't have my own business I work for an electrical company who I fit alarms for and I am also learning the electrical trade.

I know just trying to get a bit of a head start :p

Well i applaud you then - good to see enthusiasm, tel has given you a terrific answer.

There are some excellent books on amazon...you've got the obvious BGB, OSG and GN3 but try search for Trevor Linsley - his books are well structured and excellent for educational purposes.

Good luck.

I did consider this but ended up going with this one. I wired it inline with the lives and works great.
