lighting in room?

After Greetings

If I have kitchen Room with 5mX3.5m dimension
and I need to use 4 (120cm length) fluorescent lamps every 2 with each other

what is the best lighting for the room
1.2m length of the light parallel with 3.5m width of the room
or 1.2m length of the light parallel with 5m length of the room

Lights parallel with 5M length of room in 2 rows would probably look best.
