im a relatively new electrician and haven't come across many lighting faults a family friend asked me too come and take a look at their lights as 4 of them have stopped working?!
so i dropped the lights down all connections are sound and tight iv checked for voltage at each fitting getting 230v at between live and earth and s/line and earth when operating the switch but the lights are not working??
any ideas??

had similar fault today. 5 downlight spotlights. 3 not working, 230v present at all JBs. turned out burnt through neutral at back of lampholder on all 3.. non-repairable so 5 new halogen GU10 fittings ordered with adapter rings

Hi Tommy,
Are they GU10 spotlights then ?
It may be the actual bulb holder thats at fault. I come accross that quite a lot in this sort of fittings.
Hope I haven't repeated the answers !!
Best regards,
Sav
