Hi there

I have a slight problem. I had put in a full new bathroom & fitted MR16 fittings. Everything is fine with that. The customer then asked me to continue with spot lights throughout the rest of the property which I done about 2 months later. I fitted 16 GU10 fittings & left them hanging down while I plastered & decorated. Now that it's all finished, I tried putting up the fittings & then realised that there is not enough clearance above to put the fittings right up as it's a concrete floor for the above property. Took me a while to figure it out as it worked fine in the bathroom. The problem is that the GU10 bulb with tail is too tall compared to an MR16 & tail.

Is there a smaller GU10 bulb (height) that I could get to save me changing all the GU10's & tails to MR16's with tails & trannies?

It is a house. Down stairs is one property & upstairs is another via different front doors. It is a solid concrete floor about 50mm above the PB

Didn't want to put a suspended ceiling in to keep costs down for the customer. Changing to MR16's is a far cheaper option than re- sheeting, plastering & painting just to gain 9.5mm

As I said, MR16's & tails fit fine, GU10's are just a little too tall. I just wondered if there was a smaller GU10 or at least a 240v bulb that will fit in the same holder with a slimmer tail

if the flat above has a concrete floor, i see no need for fire rated fittings. the concrete itself is a fire barrier.

Good point, although some of the new build flats a worked on a couple of years ago they were fitting fire rated ceilings even thought the floor/ceiling divide was concrete. Seems a bit over the top but is why I asked.
